Acceptable Use Policy

The boundaries for using the legal intelligence, drafting, and source-access features.

Purpose

This Policy protects customers, legal-source providers, and the service. It applies to every account, workspace, API, output, and other use of of counsel AI. Defined terms in the Terms of Service carry the same meaning here.

Law, rights, and professional duties

You may not use the service to violate law, court rules, sanctions, intellectual-property rights, privacy rights, contractual restrictions, source licenses, or professional duties. You must have authority to submit customer, client, employee, and third-party information.

Security and access

  • Do not access or test accounts, workspaces, records, systems, or networks without authorization.
  • Do not probe, scan, exploit, bypass, or defeat authentication, authorization, rate limits, billing controls, or safety measures.
  • Do not introduce malware, destructive code, or content intended to disrupt the service or another user.
  • Do not share credentials, impersonate another person, or misstate workspace authority.

Automated and generated use

Do not use the service to make a legal determination, send a client communication, file a document, or take another material action without the review required by the customer’s professional obligations and workflow.

You may not represent generated text as independently verified when it has not been checked, fabricate citations or evidence, or use the service to mislead a court, regulator, client, counterparty, or the public.

Service and source abuse

  • Do not scrape, bulk-export, resell, or redistribute the service or source content outside the rights supplied by your plan.
  • Do not reverse engineer the service except where law expressly permits it.
  • Do not use unreasonable request volume, create accounts to evade limits, or interfere with other customers.
  • Do not use service outputs or access to build or train a competing product without written permission.

Harmful content and conduct

You may not use the service to facilitate fraud, deception, unlawful discrimination, harassment, threats, exploitation, violence, or other material harm. You may not generate or distribute content that you know is false in a way likely to injure a person or organization.

Enforcement and reporting

We may investigate suspected violations and limit or suspend access when reasonably needed to protect the service, comply with law, or prevent harm. We consider context, severity, recurrence, and remediation when responding.
