What we build
We are not building a replacement for lawyers.
The lesson of modern AI is not that machines can now do what lawyers do. It is that they are strong in exactly the places where people are weak. We build products that put those strengths to work and leave judgment where it has always been.
Two of those strengths matter most for legal work. The first is breadth of search: a model can read every docket, register, and agency publication in scope, every day, at a scale no firm can staff. The second is working memory. A person can hold roughly five to nine items in mind at once, and that limit has not moved in the history of the species. A model's attention spans hundreds of pages at a time. It can hold an entire regulatory record, a client's circumstances, and a year of prior developments in view simultaneously, and notice the connections among them. These are not human abilities performed faster; they are abilities no person has ever had.
So the division of labor in everything we build is the same. The system reads, remembers, and cross-references at machine scale, and shows its sources. The lawyer judges relevance, applies the law to the facts, and decides what the client hears. Nothing goes out on the machine's authority. Products built this way also age well. Richard Sutton's bitter lesson, drawn from seventy years of AI research, is that methods which leverage computation eventually beat methods built on hand-crafted expertise. The same holds here: each generation of models reads more and holds more in view, so the machine's half of the work improves on its own—while judgment stays exactly where it belongs.
